Calving of the Glacier’s Memories

.I have explored the stunning Sólheimajökull Glacier on many occasions over the past few years. During each walk to, and hike upon, this outlet glacier I have observed and recorded the unique glacial formations, its retreat and surrounding topography. ‘Calving of the Glacier’s Memories’ references my 2024 explorations, where I witnessed the splitting of a rich, blue, clear and white berg from the edge of this outlet glacial tongue. This work is the first of a new series of paintings focusing on the history and memories that may be captured within this fragile, retreating ice.
