Fractured Majesty, Calving Ice at Sólheimajökull Glacier

The paintings ‘Calmly Drifting Glacial Ice’ and ‘Fractured Majesty, Calving Ice at Sólheimajökull Glacier’ are responses to my previous expeditions to explore Mýrdalsjökull and the Sólheimajökull Glacier tongue in quite cold, though sharp and clear weather. Here, I am reflecting on the proud, calved forms I observed within my sketchbooks studies whilst being fully aware of the glacier’s rapid retreat.
