I tossed my sketching kit on my bike and cycled through the morning light in search of waves. The Atlantic rollers were easily found as the last waves of Storm Floris battered the coastline. Clambering onto a rock, I tracked the waves in fascination, drawing and redrawing their patterns. Perched too close, I eventually scrambled back to a safer distance, out of range of rogue waves. The waters swirled, tugging and towing at the inky rocks. Count to seven and watch the power build… From Borvemor Arts Residency, Summer 2025
